Sports Massage


(2 different therapists each week)
 


Sports massage can give valuable information on not only the athlete's condition but also the effects of their training programme.
Regular Sports Massage sessions can help avoid overuse injuries and traumas, as well as being a medium for monitoring results.

Effects and benefits of Sports Massage:

  • Lymph drainage
  • Increases oxygen to the area, therefore promoting healing
  • Increases the removal of waste products that build up during and after exercise
  • Can stretch parts of tendons and muscle that otherwise cannot be reached
  • Breaks down scar tissue
  • Decreases pain
  • Relaxation


Massage should play a very important part in any athletes training programme, alongside warming up, and cooling down. Through Massage we can remove the build up of general aches and pains that most sports people seem either to accept, due to the gradual increase in intensity in their programmes, or try to suppress with drugs.


Unfortunately these aches and pains can lead to more serious problems. Therefore, the benefit of Sports Massage lies in injury prevention.
